Dafni was born and raised in Greece. She holds a degree in Materials Science and Technology from the University of Crete where she also carried out her Masters thesis. In 2011 she moved to Warwick, United Kingdom, where she obtained a PhD in Chemistry having worked on polymer-protein bioconjugates, catalytic nanogels, and sequence-controlled polymers under the supervision of Prof. Rachel O'Reilly. She joined the Adolphe Merkle Institute in 2015 to work as a postdoc on mechanically morphing polymeric materials, under the guidance of Prof. Chris Weder. In 2016 she was granted a Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellowship to work on supramolecular block copolymers for photonics.
