Hazard Assessment of Aerosolized Nanomaterials

Aerosolisation approaches for a direct and controlled exposure of nanomaterials on the cell surface

The lungs are the main route of entry into the human body for airborne particles. In order to understand the potential hazard of airborne particles, human lung cell culture models are exposed to aerosolized nanomaterials such as carbon-based nanoparticles or particles present in diesel/gasoline exhausts. Therefore, the aim of this project is to develop aerosolization protocols for various materials and to test for potential hazardous effects using human lung models in vitro.
