Nanostructured materials for electrochemical energy storage
Nanostructuring electrode and electrolyte materials for their performance enhancement in batteries.
This project focuses on a small-scale approach, in which the block copolymers self-assembles into a highly uniform double gyroid that can be further utilized as a soft template to fabricate gyroid-structured electrode material. The resulting electrodes possess a self-standing and highly uniform open structure having an interconnected porous nanocrystalline framework that allows for fast ionic diffusion, giving rise to excellent rate performances. We have demonstrated its application in supercapacitors and are now exploring its performance in lithium ion batteries.
