The Adolphe Merkle Foundation

In late 2007, Adolphe Merkle set up the Adolphe Merkle Foundation and donated CHF100 million to support the University of Fribourg. The donation is primarily being used to establish the Adolphe Merkle Institute (AMI) and to maintain the support of Frimat, but also to support other areas such as a Chair of Innovation Management and Technology Transfer, the Institute of Multilingualism, and a prize worth CHF 500,000, which will be awarded every three years in recognition of outstanding scientific, cultural, social, or business achievements.
