Stimulation of cellular endocytosis for sensing and enhancing nanoparticle uptake

With the development of nanotechnology, nanoparticles ...

With the development of nanotechnology, nanoparticles have become popular also in biomedical research (e.g. as a carriers for therapeutics delivery). Biodistribution studies found that less than 1% of the injected nanoparticle dose reaches the target cells. For treatment approaches, it would thus be beneficial to stimulate specifically the uptake of NPs into target cells, and reduce clearance by immune cells. The aim of this project is to discover bio-inspired substances, which could specifically enhance the cellular uptake of nanoparticles into target cells.
