Bioinspired Hyaluronic Acid-coated Gold Nanoparticles to Target Lung Cancer Cells

Hyaluronic acid coated gold nanoparticles with Doxorubicin

Current chemotherapy drugs are not selectively targeted to cancer cells; the immune system recognizes the drug in the bloodstream and eliminates it before an effective dose is reached at the target site. We are currently developing a superior approach, a targeted “Trojan horse” nanoplatform: Hyaluronic acid coated gold nanoparticles with Doxorubicin as the cargo chemotherapy drug to target lung cancer cells. This study will form the basis for pre-clinical testing of targeted nanoparticles as therapeutics.
