Reaching for Mars 2020

Ouvert au grand public Lecture

In space with Astronaut Prof. Jeffrey Hoffman, MIT.

In 2020, NASA, the US space agency, will start preparations for sending humans to Mars ! To demonstrate the challenges of working in the void of space, we invited former NASA astronaut Prof. Jeffrey A. Hoffman for an unforgettable evening. After receiving a PhD from Harvard University, he enrolled in NASA’s Shuttle program in 1979 and has since flown five Space Shuttle missions.

Prof. Hoffman’s talk will be preceded by an introduction from a student team from the HEIA-FR & HEPIA taking part in REXUS, a European program for university students to carry out scientific experiments on rockets and balloons. In the foyer, the Regional Development Association of Lake Murten (SEM) will introduce you to the beginnings of Swiss aviation.
The conference will be followed by an aperitif.

All ticket proceeds will be donated to a non-profit organization in Fribourg.

Prof. Jeffrey Hoffman is currently a Professor at MIT, where he is interested in the future of human spaceflight and the use of the ISS as a testbed for aerospace technology.
