3D Nonlinear Photonic Crystals from Biotemplating

Investigating the interplay between a 3D linear photonic crystal and a nonlinear optical material

3D Nonlinear Photonic Crystals have a high potential as new coherent light sources outside the operating wavelength ranges of commercial lasers but are also a testbed for fundamental physics. In this project, we fabricate 3D nonlinear photonic crystals from bio-templating to study the second-harmonic generation at the band gap and band edge of the crystals.
